Gain experience and confidence by presenting STARS activities (or research or internships) in one of three formats: the Celebration Poster Session, a Discussion Group, or a Lightning Talk!

Student Posters

There are 2 Categories for student poster submissions:

  1.   STARS Service & Engagement: Submissions focus on student-led outreach, mentoring, and peer ambassador activities

  2.   Research & Internships: Submissions focus on research experiences (e.g., DREU, REU) and Summer Internships

Submission ​Format

  • Submissions should contain the following elements: title, author, STARS Computing Corps logo, college logo, and the following content areas: introduction, initiative, impact, conclusions, and future work.
  • All posters should measure 24"H x 36"W. See the recommended poster template.

Note that Posters will be evaluated at the conference on the following outcomes:

  • Quality of Poster & Information
  • Quality of Oral Presentation/Presenter
  • Qualitative Outcomes (information gathered from people through interviews or surveys that describe their response to your work)
  • Quantitative Outcomes (numerical results and statistical analysis)

A poster can optionally be accompanied by a multimedia demonstration:

  • YouTube videos
  • Digital games
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Websites
  • Wikis
  • Blogs
  • Software demonstrations

Preparing Your Submission

The STARS Celebration Call for Student Posters is now open! The deadline for submissions is Friday, Sept. 15 at 11:59 pm. All submitters will be welcome to participate in the STARS Celebration Poster Competition. Posters will be judged by faculty and industry professionals, and awards will be given for the top posters in each category. To submit:

  1. If you do not have an Easychair account, create one here.
  2. Log in to the STARS Celebration 2017 Submission Page on EasyChair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=starscelebration2017
  3. Click New Submission.
  4. Select the Poster format for your submission
  5. Complete all sections of the form.

If two or more participants are co-presenting, the lead presenter will complete presentation, workshop, or poster registration using the Easychair Submission Site. Only one Easychair submission is required per poster.

Note that you are required to submit the title, author, and abstract (a paragraph description of the project you are presenting in the poster session. Optionally, you may upload a PowerPoint or PDF file that captures the poster that you will display at the session. Students are required to print their own posters and bring them to the conference. Most univerisities offer poster printing services to students at low or no cost. However, if you do not have access to a poster printer at your institution, please contact Aubrae Collins and we will help you to find a solution.
